About the place
Beer has been brewed in Chodová Planá since at least 1573, and the family-run Chodovar brewery is today one of the oldest in family hands in Bohemia. Its treasure lies underground: a labyrinth of cellars hewn into the granite massif, where the beer matures at a constant temperature — open to visitors in the Ve Skále restaurant, built right into the historic cellar spaces.
A tasting of the local lagers can be upgraded to a treatment: in the beer spa you soak in a brew of dark beer, yeast and hops that does the skin good. The brewery offers tours with tastings and its own stylish hotel — and from Marienbad it is a single train stop, so nobody has to worry about driving.
