WHICH ILLNESSES ARE TREATED IN MARIÁNSKÉ LÁZNĚ?
Mariánské Lázně is especially sought after by spa guests suffering from locomotive system disorders, kidney and urinary tract illnesses and it is also suitable for treating respiration and gynaecologic illnesses and metabolism disorders.
Thanks to natural medicinal sources, there is also successfully treated hypertension, heart ischaemic diseases, ischaemic diseases of lower limbs and potency disorders.
IS IT ALSO POSSIBLE TO TREAT CHILDREN AND WHAT ARE THE INDICATIONS?
A self-paying treatment is possible for children from 6 years old. Indications: kidney and urinary tract diseases, respiratory tract diseases, locomotive system and gynaecologic disorders.
WHICH NATURAL SOURCES DOES THE COMPANY LÉČEBNÉ LÁZNĚ MARIÁNSKÉ LÁZNĚ USE?
We try to fully use valuable local natural medicinal sources – mineral springs, peat and medicinal Mary’s gas. Those natural sources are used in compliance with the top modern medical treatments, therefore a spa stay maximally influences our guests’ health condition.
WHAT EFFECT DO MINERAL BATHS HAVE?
A bath is taken in mineral water with a high content of CO2 - a bath must contain minimum 1 000 mg of free CO2 per 1 kg of water. The content of CO2 in our baths is 1 000 - 1 400 mg per 1 kg of water. The bath has an indifferent temperature 28 - 34°C, it is a cold impulse for the organism. The initial cold feeling is after 10 seconds replaced by a feeling of warmth. After 35 – 40 seconds a sharp-edged erythema is formed on the skin. The oxygen consumption decreases and heart activity is economised.
A series of baths has a positive effect on the heart and blood circulation system, it modifies vegetative functions, improves tissue trophicity and it has anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect. Baths are suitable for treating blood circulation disorders of lower limbs, varixes, painful conditions, vegetative functions disorders and hypertension.
WHAT IS NATURAL MEDICINAL SPRING USED FOR AND WHAT ARE ITS EFFECTS?
Natural Mary’s gas is used for treatments, this has its souce directly in Mariánské Lázně. It is a volcanic gas, which contains 99,7% CO2 and it is applied in the form of dry gas baths (CO2 gas envelopes) and gas injection applications. The gas is absorbed also through clothes, it induces vasodilatation and it has a direct effect on skin receptors. It improves blood circulation; it has anti-inflammatory affects, speeds up healing wounds and positively affects kidney functions. Mary’s gas stimulates production of sexual hormones testosterone and estradiol, that is why it is successfully used for improving sexual functions in men and reducing climacteric symptoms in women.
WHAT EFFECTS DO GAS APPLICATIONS HAVE?
Gas applications are a speciality of treatments in Mariánské Lázně. Mary’s gas is applied under the skin in the area of large joints and the spine. The main effect is reducing pain, improving blood circulation in certain areas and speeding up healing of wounds.
WHAT IS A DRINKING CURE FOR AND WHAT IS THE RECOMMENDED AMOUNT?
A drinking cure is important and, for curing kidney and urinary tract diseases, the main part of spa treatment. The principle is to a drink certain amount of mineral water 1 - 3x per day according to a doctor’s prescription. Recommended amount is 1.5 – 2 litres per day. A drinking cure affects the organism by its temperature, chemical content and volume. It effects urine composition by inducing water diuresis (urine excretion), stimulating kidneys to faster activity and positively effects bowels peristalsis. Mineral springs have different chemical composition, that is why they are prescribed according to illnesses – for example Rudolf Spring for diabetes, Caroline Spring for oxalate stones.
WHY WE RECOMMEND DIFFERENT MINERAL SPRINGS FOR DRINKING CURES
FOR EXAMPLE WITH MARRIED COUPLES?
Prescription of drinking cure depends on guests’ health condition, not always do a husband and wife have the same problems, that is why a doctor can recommend different mineral spring for each of them. For example for women, Caroline Spring is more suitable due to its content of Ca and Mg and for men as a prevention of prostate gland disorders, Rudolph Spring. The most suitable spring is always prescribed by a doctor.
IS THERE POSSIBILITY A OF BLOOD LABORATORY TESTS? IS IT PART OF A CURATIVE PROGRAM?
Standard laboratory tests are a part of a classical spa stay, special tests (for example for risk factors of civilisation illnesses, tumour markers, borreliosis, hormones, etc.) are possible to arrange in Privamed for and extra charge
IS A DOCTOR ALWAYS PRESENT AT THE HOTEL AND HOW IS EMERGENCY COVER PROVIDED?
At our spa hotels we provided medical emergency cover and 24-hour nurse service.
IS IT POSSIBLE TO ORDER DIETRY BOARD?
Yes, we prepare diabetic, weight reducing, saving, vegetarian and non-gluten diets. Other types of dietary meals are prepared at a guest’s request.
CAN YOU GIVE ME ADVISE HOW TO CHANGE MY WAY OF LIVING?
Yes, during the individual consultation a spa doctor will advise you how to continue with a healthy life-style even after the conclusion of spa stay and when at home.

WHY ARE NOT ALL TREATMENTS ONLY IN THE MORNING?
Due to capacity reasons some treatments are provided until 6 p.m. Each guest has his/her treatments timed according to a treatment schedule.
WHAT ARE FREELY PURCHASABLE TREATMENTS?
Freely purchasable treatments are procedures, which are possible to purchase without medical consultation (for example inhalations, mineral baths, various types of massages, solarium, saline cave and many others).
WHERE IS IT POSSIBLE TO BUY TREATMENTS?
It is possible to buy treatments at hotel receptions, surgery and in some hotels at the spa receptions.

IS THE ENTRY TO THE SWIMMING POOL AND SAUNA FREE OF CHARGE OR NOT?
For hotel guests entry to the hotel pool and sauna is free of charge. Guests of hotels where there is not a swimming pool have entrance to other hotel pools of our company’s hotels free of charge (excluding patients sent by Czech health insurance companies).
IS WATER IN THE SWIMMING POOL MINERAL WATER?
Water in the swimming pool is not mineral water.
WHY IS THERE A DIFFERENT AMOUNT OF BUBBLES IN MINERAL BATHS?
It does not depend on the amount of bubbles, the amount of CO2 in baths varies between 1 000 -1 400 mg per 1 kg of water.
WHERE ARE MASSAGES PROVIDED AND IS IT POSSIBLE TO HAVE A MASSAGE IN A ROOM?
To have a massage in a room is not possible. We have hygienic regulations, which forbid it.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO ORDER A TRANSFER FROM THE AIRPORT OR FROM THE RAILWAY STATION?
Transfer from the railway and bus station in Mariánské Lázně is free of charge to all company’s hotels (this does not include patients sent by the Czech health insurance offices). It is possible to order a transfer from Prague - Ruzyně airport or from other European airports (Nürberg, Frankfurt, Berlin, Karlovy Vary) in advanced for an extra charge according to a valid tariff.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO ORDER A THREE-BED ROOM OR AN EXTRA BED?
The third bed, an extra bed or children’s cot can be booked in advanced.
WHEN ARE ROOMS AVAILABLE ON THE DAY OF ARRIVAL AND UNTIL WHEN ON THE DEPARTURE DAY?
Rooms are ready from 2 p.m. on the arrival day and until 12 p.m. on the departure day. It is possible to book an earlier arrival and later departure according to valid tariffs.
ARE THERE BATHROBES AND TOWELS IN ROOMS? ARE THEY INCLUDED IN THE PRICE?
Towels and bathrobes are free of charge in all rooms of 4 and 5 star hotels. In the hotels Svoboda, Labe and Vltava bathrobes can be hired at the reception for an extra charge.
HOW CAN I PHONE FROM A HOTEL, TO A HOTEL OR BETWEEN HOTELS? WHERE CAN I BUY MOBILE PHONE CARD?
There is a direct link in all rooms, from which you can call for an extra charge within the Czech Republic as well as abroad and free of charge between hotels of our company. Mobile phone cards can be purchased at the post office or in specialised shops.
WHERE CAN I PARK AND IT IS POSSIBLE TO BOOK A PARKING SPACE?
Parking is possible in an underground garage at the Spa hotel Butterfly (booking is necessary) or on the parking spaces at the hotels Nové Lázně, Centrální Lázně, Hvězda, Grandhotel Pacifik, Vltava and Svoboda. Please mark reservation for a parking space on your reservation. A further possibility is to park in a secure parking lot in the centre of the town, reservation there is not necessary.

WHERE IS THE COLONNADE AND SPRINGS?
The colonnade with a drinking pavilion is situated in the centre of the town. There are several mineral springs leading to the pavilion: Cross, Rudolf and Caroline Springs.

WHAT ARE CULTURAL POSSIBILITIES IN MARIÁNSKÉ LÁZNĚ?
Cultural programs and other information are placed on the information boards and they are also accessible at the receptions of all hotels of our company. The rich cultural life in Mariánské Lázně enables the spa guests to visit concerts, operettas, theatre performances, fashion shows and exhibitions, in summer there are popular colonnade concerts. A remarkable experience is provided by the ‘Singing Fountain’, which operates from May until October.
WHAT ARE THE SPORTS POSSIBILITIES IN MARIÁNSKÉ LÁZNĚ?
In Mariánské Lázně you can play golf, tennis, go walking, cycling, horse-riding, yachting or you can use the swimming pool and natural swimming areas, in winter there is an area for cross country skiing and a ski slope with ski lift and a gondola. In our company we also offer Nordic walking with an experienced instructor.
